Info Outlets

In addition to delivering information to young people directly, Canllaw Online also provides support to a network of outlets across Wales – helping them set up and develop information services for young people.

There are four forms of Info Outlets:

Info Shop – (red arrow) a staffed unit entirely devoted to provision for information services. There are Info Shops in Newport, Penarth, Swansea, Wrexham, Cwmbran, Bridgend and Cardiff.

Info Zone - (green arrow) a dedicated space allocated to the delivery of information services for young people, with a requirement of access to the internet and trained staff for a minimum of 6 hours a week.

Info Mobiles – (yellow arrow) mobile units distributing youth information service provision.

Info Points – (blue arrow) access to leaflets about services, activities and opportunities in the local area.

The 100+ outlets all display and encompass the ten governing Canllaw Online Info Index headings, and promote the Euro<26 card. The outlets are also required to operate to national quality standards in their delivery of information to young people. Wherever the nationally consistent “Info” logo is displayed, young people can be assured that there is a quality service available to them.

Depending on the level of outlet, the info outlets provide the following services:

  • Free & confidential information, including leaflets, brochures, posters & Internet access.
  • Advice and support services to young people aged between 11 and 25.
  • Accurate, up-to-date and relevant information
  • Young persons training and consultations
  • Mobile information service (available in some cases)
  • Access to Canllaw Online 1520 website, aimed at delivering info to young people.

From September/October 2003, Canllaw Online is launching an “Info” website specifically designed to support workers in information services for young people, which will include downloadable guidelines to setting up an Info Outlet. Approximately 156 news articles, 12 feature articles, 12 chats and 12 forums for the sharing of practise will be held each year. The website will be a tool to support the Canllaw Online Entitlement Project Training and Consultancy Services. The address will be www.infooutlets.com
