Youth Exchange: Romania

What is “Youth Exchange Romania”?

“Youth Exchange Romania” is a YOUTH Programme project funded by the European Commission. The main aim of the “European Opportunities for Youngsters and Participation in Youth Social Policies” project is to gather a number of young people from different cultural, economic and social backgrounds – participants from EU and non-EU countries (pre - accession) - to share experiences and opinions regarding the accessing the different opportunities dedicated to them – in the field of culture, information, services or goods.

The group (consisting of the following countries: Romania, Wales, Poland, Luxembourg, Italy and Estonia) learn from each other how social youth policy is developed in each country, and how it impacts on young people.

The project’s main themes - art and culture – will feature heavily during the intercultural exchange project. The project will aim to heighten European awareness and develop transnational relationships in order to reach a common purpose - the European integration and the active participation of young people in developing social policies.

Benefits to Wales:

The aspiration behind the multi-lateral exchange is to inform young people about the European practises for communication & information in the field of youth, knowledge and respect the fundamental rights of European citizens. Also emphasizing the gathering of new knowledge regarding the European fundamental values and participation in activities for the benefit of young people.

Canllaw Online is working in partnership with Immtech to facilitate nine young people travelling to Romania to make a video on all of the above topics. They will also be encouraged to write articles and make documentaries on their experiences, their impressions of where they fit personally in Europe, where their country fits and how they fit nationally. They will also give their advice on what areas they believe should be targeted.
