Canllaw Online Cyf ("Canllaw"/"we"/"us") Privacy Policy

THIS PRIVACY POLICY APPLIES TO ALL OF THE CANLLAW ONLINE WEBSITES. EACH WEBSITE ALSO HAS ITS OWN PRIVACY POLICY. PLEASE SEE EACH OF THE WEBSITES FOR THE PRIVACY POLICY SPECIFICALLY RELATING TO THAT SITE:-

Types of Information we collect and how we collect them

Canllaw sometimes need to know people’s personal information. We only collect this type of information if it is essential information. We use electronic forms and it is up to the user ("you") of the Canllaw Website ("the Website") if you want to fill them in.

Types of Information

Registered Users - we will ask for your first name, surname, e-mail address, age, date of birth and [•] when you wish to become a registered user. As a registered user you will be able to use the chatrooms, forums and message boards ("the Interactive Areas"). Information that you supply to Canllaw in order to become a registered user shall only be used within Canllaw and will not be supplied to third parties (other than as specified herein) without first obtaining your consent. However, Canllaw may disclose information where Canllaw is obliged or permitted by law to do so. Also if you post any objectionable content or otherwise engage in any disruptive behaviour, Canllaw can use whatever information that is available to it about you to stop such behaviour. Canllaw will hold the information that you provided for as long as you use the Interactive Areas.

Surveys – we do not ask for personal information for surveys. We use this information to make the information we provide better and to give you the information you want. As Canllaw's services expand, there will be more opportunities to enhance the services provided to you. From time to time Canllaw may provide you with details of other Canllaw services and products which may be of interest to you and offer you the opportunity to view or receive information about them. Canllaw may also offer you the opportunity to participate in surveys carried out by Canllaw or its agents which help Canllaw's research into the types of service Canllaw offers. Canllaw will keep a record of information provided by you. Please note that any information you provide to Canllaw will only be used within Canllaw, and will not be supplied to third parties (other than as specified herein) without first obtaining your consent. The only time we may do so is if we are obliged by law to disclose information.

Competitions – we will ask for your name and address to send you the prize if you win. If you don’t give us these details we won’t be able to send you the prize. We will send the winner’s details only, on to the company running the promotion. We will ask you if you want any information about us or the company running the competition. If you do, we’ll pass your details to the company, if you don’t we will delete them completely from our files.

Your comments – if you need an answer to your comment or question you must include your e-mail address otherwise we won’t know who to send the reply back to. If you just want to make a comment and don’t need an answer then you don’t need to give us your e-mail. If we can’t answer your questions we will pass them on to someone who can, in this case, we will only let them know what the question was and nothing about who was asking it. We will only pass questions on to one of our partner organisations. In most cases they will have signed an agreement with us saying that they will use their best endeavours to answer your questions. We will explain who the relevant partner organisation is in each section of the Website.

Chatrooms – Canllaw will use its reasonable endeavours to monitor the content of the chatrooms. Canllaw will not censor your comments but will not post any comment that is offensive. We will ask you for a nickname so that you can chat without giving your name. Whilst using our chatroom please be careful not to give out any personal information for example your name, address, phone number, school, college or any other information that might let someone know who you are. You are reminded that chatrooms are forums for public discussion, and that any personal information supplied by you during these discussions is widely accessible. Canllaw is not responsible for the content posted by users of these services.

E-mail newsletter – we will need your name and e-mail to send you the e-mail newsletter. If you no longer want to receive this newsletter you can tell the webmaster@canllaw-online.com and we will remove your details from our files completely.

Surveys – no personal data is collected.

Downloads – no information is collected

Your IP address which is automatically logged by Canllaw's webserver and which will be used only to observe your interests in the Website.

Cookies also allow you to take part in competitions and online voting by telling your computer that you have already entered or voted. Who is collecting the Information?

www.canllaw-online.com and all the information collected is managed by the Canllaw staff team and all files are only accessed with a password.

How the personal information is used?

All personal information is collected for a specific reason and we will tell you what that is, or it will be obvious to you in any event what that purpose will be. We will ask you if you want to be kept on our mailing list, if you don’t want to get anymore information from us leave the box blank and all your details will be deleted once we’ve processed your question, competition entry etc.

If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personal information we will notify you by posting a prominent announcement on our pages

Data Security

We have taken appropriate measures to keep you details secure and will not disclose any of it to any third party without your consent.

The Website contains links to other sites that are completely unrelated to Canllaw. This privacy statement does not apply to these sites nor are Canllaw responsible for the content and practices of these websites.

Your personal data

Canllaw will hold your personal information on Canllaw's systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met, or, if you no longer wish for Canllaw to hold your personal information and you have notified Canllaw of your desire.

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information Canllaw holds about you and you have the right to access your information held by Canllaw and where necessary, to have it amended. You can also ask us to delete, change or update your data at any time. Canllaw reserves the right to charge for information requests.
