Name:  Lowri Lewis

Job Title:  Facilitator – Translation, Content & Monitoring

e-mail:  lowrilewis@canllaw-online.com

Contact no:  02920 853187

What I do at Canllaw Online:  I translate content for the website and any things that go out of the office such as letters, posters etc, I also write content for the website and monitor the 112 Digilabs in the CREDU project.  I’m also involved with some European projects with the European Youth Card Association (EYCA) and European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA) and have taken part in conferences both here in Wales and in other European countries.

Why I’m the best person for this job (base on practical experience & qualifications – state which were obtained while at Canllaw):  I gained lots of translation experience while at university as part of my course and while working as a translator for the students union.  I also have experience of writing content from my degree and I have had lots of experience doing this while at Canllaw.  I think I’m the right person to monitor the 112 Digilabs because I’m organised and can be annoyingly persistent when people don’t send their reports in!

Why Canllaw Online and information for young people:  Canllaw Online is a great company to work for, the office has a relaxed atmosphere yet everyone works very hard and is very committed to providing the best possible information for young people.  Good, reliable information for young people is very important so that they can make informed life decisions.

What I did before Canllaw Online:  I went to Swansea University to study German & Business Studies and spent a year at university in Bamberg, Germany as part of my course.  Found it very difficult to tear myself away from student life after graduating so stayed in Swansea for two years after graduating, living with some uni mates and working for the first six months in a solicitor’s office then for the next year and a half in an investment company.  While doing that I studied part time for a translation qualification which got me a job as a translator at Canllaw Online.

What I want to do, but haven’t done yet (unrealised ambition):  Swim with dolphins, learn Spanish, travel round America & Europe.
