  2 Employment & Training

The time is now… Are you looking for a job or a change of direction? It’s tough to get your feet on the employment ladder, so plan well, train hard and land the job of your dreams. With so many opportunities and help at your fingertips, set your targets high and go for it. Wherever you’re from and wherever you’re going… be skilled and launch yourself into the unknown.

Before you start…
You’re talented, energetic and raring to go. Dip your toe in to find out what it’s really like. Work experience is a great opportunity to find out if you would really like to do a job or not! You can then have a re-think or go for it. It’s also great to get a 'foot in the door' that may lead to a permanent job. If you go into year 12 and in school or a further education college, your school/college will probably offer you work experience. College and University courses often included work experience. Alternatively, contact the company you're interested in directly and ask how to go about it, but don't expect to get paid. Careers Wales can provide advice on companies that provide work experience.

Warming up…
Check out www.activate.co.uk for a great guide to CV building in their careers
section. You can build one, see one, use the template, print one and send one from this site!
